We look at Circulor, a supply chain traceability company and the recent winner of DIGITALEUROPE’S Future Unicorn Award.

Circulor has been selected from thousands of companies across Europe as the winner of this year’s DIGITALEUROPE Future Unicorn Award. The award was announced on February 3rd by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education, and Youth, at DIGITALEUROPE’s annual flagship conference, Masters of Digital. All of the event and awards replays from this will be made available to watch for those that were not able to attend during the live awards ceremony.

Circulor is the leading provider of supply chain traceability, with a focus on sustainability and the goal of assisting companies to get to net-zero. They concentrate on methods such as responsibly sourcing materials and switching to electric vehicles and then tracking these along with the emissions rates. Circulor’s portfolio of clients includes nickel and cobalt producers such as BHP and FMG, service providers such as SGS, and automotive manufacturers including Volvo Cars, Daimler, Jaguar Land Rover, and Polestar.

Founded in 2017, Circulor has publicly raised over £20mn led by The Westly Group, a notable early-stage investor in Tesla. They were joined in the venture by a number of the company’s clients, including Volvo Cars, Jaguar Land Rover, TotalEnergies, BHP, and Boeing. Through its hard work with these clients, Circulor has proven itself to be the most mature, proven, and complete technology solution for full visibility into complex industrial supply chains.

Businesses can now track the physical flow of critical materials from extraction to final production, as well as associated ESG characteristics. This includes embedded carbon across Scope 1 and 2 emissions, to create a dynamic picture of inherited emissions. Helping businesses realistically make cuts in emissions and hit the global net-zero 2050 target.

Douglas Johnson-Poensgen, Founder and CEO of Circulor states “Tackling inherited carbon emissions in complex industrial supply chains is essential to a successful energy transition. Our digital solution enables our customers and growing networks to come together and gain the insights they need to affect real change on the path to net-zero.”

This is the sixth year the Future Unicorn Award has been presented, celebrating scale-ups with the most potential to become Europe’s next tech giant. The national technology trade association, affiliated with DIGITALEUROPE, inspects and evaluates the work of thousands of tech companies and nominates only the most promising scale-ups.
